4 Reasons to Try CBD for Your Dog

We are living in a new world. One where the cannabis industry is evolving and we are discovering the possible healing power of cannabidiol (CBD) on humans and their pet counterparts. As the benefits of CBD is realized it is quickly becoming synonymous with wellness and health because of the many significant ailments – for both fur babies and their bipedal parents.

First let's clear up some concerns. CBD is legal in all 50 states and in no way can you or your dog get ‘high’ off cbd. ‘Overdosing’ on CBD looks a lot more like the most epic nap time than anything dangerous or life threatening. CBD is 100% safe and is not habit forming while still providing relief for many symptoms. If you are still feeling a bit cautious here’s 5 solid reasons to try CBD:

Mental Health of Aging Dogs

CBD has been shows to help support cellular function and promote healthy aging. In addition it is being studied for its anti psychotic and anti anxiety properties. This combined with the anti-inflammatory benefits CBD can help you help your senior doggo age gracefully in comfort.

Inflammation and Joint Pain

CBD naturally helps reduce inflammation in all parts of the body. CBD oil and tinctures are used by many holistic veterinarians to treat joint pain and inflammation in dogs. CBD isn’t a cure for these joint issues. However, it can ease the inflammation and pain caused by wear and tear on the joints. This will help your dog remain active and could also help speed recovery after a surgery.

Anxiety and Fear

CBD can help your dog feel calm in times of stress. CBD works to initiate chemical transmissions of the endocannabinoid system helping the body balance emotions. Many pet owners use CBD therapeutically to help dogs who suffer from anxiety and fear.

Improved Appetite and Fights Nausea

Just like us as dogs age their digestive system can get a little touchy. And that’s not even considering the effects of illness or treatments that cause nausea and a loss of appetite. CBD helps trigger the sensation hunger and minimize the symptoms of nausea, allowing your pet to uptake nutrients. This is especially helpful if your puppy is suffering from an illness that has not allowed them to eat and therefore slowing the rate of healing.
