And what's even better is some of the healthiest herbs are readily available in dried seasoning blends which remove the measuring and guesswork from the food preparation equation. You already know some of the healthiest herbs make you feel good from the inside out by calming our nerves or settling our stomachs.
Healing Herbs
- Basil
Chefs from around the world love basil and we have to agree, this is one of our favorites. Basil is rich in flavonoids which may help prevent cell damage from both radiation and oxygen. Basil also provides vitamins K, iron, calcium, vitamin A, manganese, magnesium, vitamin C, and potassium.
- Ginger
Ginger is known for being very effective for an upset stomach as well as nausea. Its antiviral components make it may help for prevention and treatment of the common cold.
- Garlic
Many studies have shown that garlic has powerful antioxidants and are great for preventing damaging free radicals as well as protecting against heart disease.
- Cilantro
Cilantro is known for its ability to pull toxins from the body and fight free radicals.
- Tumeric
Turmeric studies have shown that it may be instrumental in fighting cancer and managing or even preventing diabetes.
- Mint
The strong aroma of mint is very effective at providing relief in respiratory disorders and for promoting digestion so it’s ideal to eat before a meal.
- Fenugreek
Fenugreek is a good herb to reduce menstrual cramps, cholesterol, menopause symptoms, and may help control diabetes.
- Lavender
Lavender may help calm your nerves and help with insomnia. The scent relaxes the body and mind so it’s great if your nerves are frazzled or you’re having trouble getting to sleep.

Healthy Eats:
Skinny Spicy Sprout Soup (serves two)
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground hot Italian sausage
- 2 slices of uncooked bacon, chopped small
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 sweet potatoes, diced into about 1/2" pieces
- 1 large carrot, sliced thin
- 1 tsp Renovation Tea Italian 5 Spice Blend
- 5 cups chicken broth
- 1/2 cup full fat coconut milk
- 3 cups chopped spinach
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (to taste)
- Salt & pepper (to taste)
- Olive oil
Instructions:
- In a large pot over medium heat, add onion, sausage and bacon plus 2 tbs of olive oil. Stir just until sausage is cooked through
- Add the minced garlic to the pot and cook until fragrant
- Add the potatoes, carrots, Renovation Tea Italian 5 Spice Blend, salt and pepper to the same pot.
- Stir to combine flavors until fragrant
- Add chicken broth to the same pot and simmer for about 15 minutes, or until potatoes are tender
- Add coconut milk and spinach – bring to a low rolling boil for 5 minutes
- Finally stir in the cayenne (to taste)
- Garnish with a sprinkle of Renovation Tea Italian 5 Spice Blend and enjoy!
