Weight Loss With Tea

Tea is a time honored tradition enjoyed around the world for every reason from pleasure to ceremony to holistic medicine. As we know drinking tea has long been associated with many healthy benefits, including weight loss. And since It's one of the easiest things you can do by simply pouring hot water onto tea leaves and allowing them to steep, there is no excuse for not incorporating this timeless beverage to your weight loss regimen.

The majority of teas have a type of flavonoid called catechins that may help boost metabolism and help you break down body fat more quickly. And since caffeine, the ever famous get up and go chemical, is present in many teas it can help you burn calories. These two compounds probably work best together for weight loss. Some studies have even found that tea may enhance weight loss and help maintain a healthy body weight by preventing the metabolism slow down, aka plateau, that’s common in all diets. Its true that certain types of teas have been found to be more effective than others at achieving this, below we list our favorites.

Healthy Eats: Mexican Pressure Cooked Pork Shoulder

Ingredients:

  • 6 garlic cloves
  • Juice of 1 orange
  • Finely grated zest and juice of 1 lime
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Renovation Tea: Mexican Seasonings
  • 1 boneless pork shoulder (~4lbs), cut into 4 pieces
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Chopped fresh cilantro leaves, for serving
  • Lime wedges, for serving
  • Hot Sauce, to taste, for serving
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Combine garlic, orange juice, lime zest and juice, Renovation Tea: Mexican Seasonings, sugar, and salt (to taste) in a food processor. Pulse until well blended.
  2. In a large bowl mix pork, bay leaf, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and pepper (to taste). Tossing to combine.
  3. Marinate pork mixture in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  4. In the pressure cooker heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Hot but not smoking.
  5. Remove the pork from the marinade, saving the marinade, cook until brown on all sides. Do in batches as required.
  6. Add the leftover marinade to the pot. Cover and cook on high pressure for 90 minutes, allow the pressure to release naturally.
  7. Remove the pork from the broth, reserving the juices.
  8. Remove the bay leaf, add salt and pepper to taste.
  9. Shred the meat with two forks.
  10. Lightly mix the meat with the broth to taste and serve with fresh chopped cilantro, lime wedges, and hot sauce.
  11. Enjoy!
